As the largest research and educational institution in northern Germany and one of the country’s largest universities, Universität Hamburg offers a wide range of courses combined with excellent research.

667 professors and 5,039 research assistants are currently working in 8 faculties that are strongly shaped by 5 core research areas: Climate, Earth and Environment/ Photon and Nano Sciences/ Manuscript Cultures /Infection Research/ Particle, Astro- and Mathematical Physics. There are also numerous consortia projects and research centers.

t the university, four clusters of excellence are funded as part of the federal and state government’s excellence strategy:
Advanced Imaging of Matter (photon and nanosciences)
Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CliCCS) (climate research)
Understanding Written Artefacts (manuscript research)
Quantum Universe (mathematics, particle physics, astrophysics, cosmology)

The University of Hamburg is represented with its buildings on several campuses throughout the city of Hamburg. Our department takes care of renovation, construction maintenance and renovation measures in the scientific institutions for University Hamburg.

Our projects have a wide range. The focus is on the natural sciences areas of biology, chemistry and physics. Another focus is building and process optimization to save energy as well as secure the technical building equipment. The urban development of the newly emerging Science City Bahrenfeld is also currently intensively dealt with.
